Eppo Cardelo was born in Barcelona in 1966, a city that has strongly influenced both his personal growth and artistic development.

He qualified as a studio technician and broadcaster, studying at EMUC, a profession to which he devoted his youth culminating in his appointment as director and broadcaster at a highly successful local radio station.  During this time, he also studied Fine Arts at the Liceo Sant Jordi in Barcelona and took various courses at the Escola Massana, where he acquired the numerous techniques needed to express the creative flair gained during his early years.

He continued to broaden his knowledge and artistic development in European cities such as Barcelona, Rome and Madrid.

He has devoted himself to art and painting from an early age and, in the past, has specialised in restoring antique paintings.  Over a number of years, his city of birth provided him with many opportunities to apply his techniques of research and work on the City´s famous Modernista buildings.

Although dedicating himself to such work with the classical masters, his desire to develop his art further led him to research ways in which to express light, colour and shape.  His own style is eclectic, unpredictable and not constrained by preconceived rules and ideas.

His passion for the arts is not limited to painting and he has enjoyed success both in musical composition and writing.  Since childhood he has felt the need to communicate through all artistic media with music also being a channel for his creativity.

At the age of eight he entered the Choir of the Church of the Jesuit College where he studied and since then music has been an important part of his life.  At seventeen, he entered the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo de Barcelona where he studied music theory in a brilliant, but short, sojourn.  Whilst obtaining top grades, his passion to challenge boundaries with his lecturers led to an artistic parting of the ways.  His rebellious, non-conformity and individual interpretation of music was the reason for his leaving:  Eppo has always believed that art should be allowed to evolve as should teaching techniques and he was not prepared to blindly accept the dogmas of the 18th Century.

After leaving the Conservatorio, he studied at various other schools in the city of Barcelona but was unable to find one that matched his own expectations for combining his two primary art forms.  He concluded that it would be better to grow and develop alone thus deepening the mystery of his art.  He composed many musical works that were influenced by his own paintings thereby uniting two of his great passions.

His desire to express himself through art has also led him into the world of literature.  He has been an incessant reader since childhood, which has motivated him to put pen to paper since he was young.  Over the years, this need has become more driven resulting in his first major work, a comprehensive investigation into relationships between couples.  This work is currently under editorial review. Two other pieces are also in progress including his first novel.

In 2007, Eppo decided to leave Barcelona and move with his family to live in the south of Spain seeking inspiration from the calm and the light that this part of the Mediterranean offers.

For three years he combined his artistic activities with a part-time position at an international trading company of which he was a founding member. This led to frequent trips to the United States, France and Italy, home to some of its major clients.

Eppo then realized he wanted to devote more time to his creative talents, taking the decision to opt out of the company and commence an adventure of total dedication to the art world.

In 2011 he opened his new showroom in La Manga Club.

Presently Eppo is combining his efforts in the new showroom with the organizing of new exhibitions of his art in Miami, Paris and Rome whilst continuing to live in La Manga Club.
